We welcomed a calf this week at -8°F and it took some hands on care to get it warmed up and back with mama. While giving birth in a shelter with a good bed of hay is ideal, some cows will choose to separate from the herd and give birth in the snow. In this case, it is important to bring the calf into a warm area, dry and warm the calf, and reunite as soon as possible to get life-saving colostrum to the calf.
