The park itself, centered around Prasat Hin Phimai—the largest and most intact Khmer temple in Thailand—serves as the dramatic backdrop, with lights illuminating its towering sandstone prangs (towers) and intricate lintels, evoking the grandeur of Angkor Wat’s northern outpost. As part of the Phimai Festival 2025, the light and sound show runs nightly from November 5 to 9, 2025, starting at approximately 7:00 PM and lasting 30–45 minutes per performance. Shows typically begin after sunset (around 6:30 PM in November). The show narrates Phimai’s story as a thriving Khmer city-state, from its founding as a Hindu-Buddhist hub to its role in the empire’s expansion. Expect ethereal projections of elephants, warriors, and deities dancing across the ruins, accompanied by traditional Isaan folk music (mor lam) blended with orchestral scores. It’s a multimedia spectacle emphasizing themes of enlightenment, prosperity, and cultural preservation, often tying into Buddhist motifs from the temple’s Mahayana influences.
