Myths and rumours of mystic practices at Druids Temple have sprung up over its lifetime with tales of Devil worship and harrowing frights experienced by those who have spent the night. The deep woodland at Bivouac is home to the Druid’s Temple which is steeped in history and intrigue. It is rumoured that a hermit actually lived in Druids Temple North Yorkshire, although it was said he went completely mad after about 4 years of living here The site contains a main temple and stone circle as well as a cave, and an altar for sacrifice, along with numerous stone formations dotted around the woodland for eager walkers to find as they explore. The Druid’s Temple is one of Yorkshire’s most mysterious places, in the dark deep woods, located near Leighton Reservoir with the surrounding moorland and Yorkshire Dales landscape. Within the woodland there are a number of other standing stones . The temple is just a short walk from Bivouac’s reception, Mysterious stones line the avenue to the Temple Druid. As the path ends an enormous oval of standing dark stones rises from the low clearing, shadows sweeping across them. The hollow in the centre is filled with rough-hewn boulders.
