In September of 1990, I took a 4 day weekend railfaining trip to Chicago. This video shows an assortment of passenger trains filmed the afternoon of Monday September 10 1990. 1. A pair of Metra commuter trains depart from C&NW's Madison St Station. 2. As the 2nd commuter departs, a work train with a Burro Crane arrives. 3. Overhead on the Lake St L, east & westbound CTA trains pass. 4. A third Metra departs and snakes its way through the equipment at the north end of the terminal. 5. Another eastbound L goes by, as the work train heads back out. 6. A C&NW GP9 arrives with an empty set of commuter cars as a CTA train heads west. 7. An eastbound Lake st L train 8. A Metra F40 backs into the station. 9. Another empty train backs in to the station. This one will head out on the northwest line to the Arlington Park racetrack. 10. Eastbound on the Lake st L, is a work train with 4 of the older 6000 series cars still painted in green & white. 11. Another inbound move, this one with an F40 in the older RTA paint scheme. 12. The C&NW GP9 heads back out with several bilevel coaches. 13. One more eastbound L train heads over the C&NW tracks. 14. A westbound Lake St L passes the old C&NW building. 15. Lake st tower north of Union Station. 16. A pair of inbound Metra trains on the Milwaukee Road line pass under Lake St. 17. An outbound Metra with a former Milwaukee Road F40C heads past Lake St tower. 18. Inbound Milwaukee Road & C&NW Metras cross paths near Canal St. 19. A light F40C heads out from Union Station past Lake St Tower.
