One of the reasons I am obsessed with the North is the shear volume of things to do. Hiking, camping, fishing, boating....the list goes on. I struggle to find things in my area to satisfy the outdoor craving. Occasionally I come up with an idea and with no surprise, the info is limited. I decided to do my best to remedy that! Join me as I drag a friend (not literally) down the Wood - Pawcatuck River here in Rhode Island. It is divided by two parts, the Upper and Lower. I found a great source of info to include maps here: https://wpwa.org/documents/PaddlingMa... and here: https://wpwa.org/wp-content/uploads/2... Water conditions can also be checked here: https://wpwa.org/river-conditions-rep... On this day...5/7/2021 The water was higher than on my last visit which was to be expected following a few days of rain. There river is heavily obstructed by runnable. I encountered far more downed trees etc. than shown. I crammed footage from almost 17 miles of river into one hour. In the video you will hear me mention a break in info where the Upper ends and the Lower starts. After a closer look it is mentioned on the maps but a note at the end of the Upper map would be helpful. It is not a huge deal but it means there would be a carry of .25 miles or so down the road to put in to begin the Lower River paddle. I did my best to document this "attraction" here in Rhode Island and hope it helps someone plan a day trip. Audio Courtesy of Audionautix
