Ronnie Hazelhurst Kept Including the Names of TV Shows in Their Themes and I Don't Understand Why

Seriously, anyone got any idea why he kept doing this? Was it some in-joke to himself or someone else? Or did he use the show's name as a jumping-off point for creating a theme around it? I've noticed that some themes not written by him do it, too - perhaps we should call this 'Hazelhursting'? If you haven't heard of him, Ronnie Hazelhurst was the BBC 'light entertainment' composer of the 1970s and 1980s. If there's a BBC sitcom from those decades, chances are that he wrote the theme for it. He enjoyed incorporating elements from the show's title into his themes - tills and shop noise in Are You Being Served?, Big Ben chimes in Yes Minister, rising and falling chords in The Fall and Rise of Reginal Perrin, etc. Not only that, but he almost always incroporated the show's title into the music itself as a motif (you'll see what I mean soon). The number of times he got away with this trick is truly mind-boggling. Seriously, it's in just about every one - no matter how unwieldy the show's title was... I think the only Hazelhurst themes that don't conform to this are The Liver Birds, Only Fools and Horses, To the Manor Born and The Generation Game!
