The town Finspång is located in Östergötland, SWEDEN. Finspång is an old mill with several major industries, including Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery AB. Louis De Geer laid the foundation stone for Finspång Castle on October 23, 1668, on an elongated islet surrounded by the two arms of finspångsån. Around the castle with its orangery and gazebo, the mill grew up with forges, cannon foundry and mill street. From Finspång the now defunct Fiskeby railway was built in the 19th century. Finspång was dominated during the 20th century by two large companies: Svenska Turbinfabriks Aktiebolaget Ljungström (STAL) and Finspongs Metallverks Aktiebolag. Both were founded in 1913 and were incorporated into groups based in Västerås. Already in 1916 STAL was acquired by the ASEA Group, while it would be until 1942 before the metalworks was bought by Svenska Metallverken.
