VISITING AN HISTORICAL PORTUGUESE CITY | Tomar, Portugal

Hello guys! Today we spent the day in Tomar. It’s a cute and cozy town full of history! Today’s plan: 1. Convento de Cristo (Castle and Convent) 2. Parque do Mouchão 3. Nossa Senhora dos Olivais Church 4. Pegões Aqueduct 5. Baloiço do Talegre (Swing) First, we went to Convento de Cristo, the most important monument in Tomar. It’s an UNESCO world heritage site, since 1983. And it includes the convent and the castle complex and it took several centuries to build. From the 12th to the 18th century due to that you can find different architectural styles in the construction, such us: romanesque, gothic, manueline and renaissance. This monument was really worthy, we’ve already seen several convents in Portugal but they keep surprising us and they’re all so different, it fascinates us. After we took a stroll in Mouchão’s garden, it’s a beautiful garden, with a lot of ambiance due to the river Nabão that passes right in the middle of it. We went to Church Nossa Senhora dos Olivais, it was a cite church, built to be a pantheon of the Templar Order’s Masters. Than we drove for 8 min to the Pegões Aqueduct it was one of our favorites in Portugal with two lines of arches on top of each other. It’s a beautiful and impressive construction from the 16th century, with the objective of bringing water to the Christ Convent. Finally we drove 15min to the Talegre swing, Maria loves swings and this is a new one, huge, and built in the top of a mountain, so the views were spectacular and we had lots of fun!
