The Truth about TGN - Personal Experience

My experience with TGN was very strange. Some might say it's horrible, but I honestly don't think so. Of course, I had more problems than benefits from TGN, but it was a great feeling when I was a part of the TGN community. I joined the network back in July of 2012. I had been doing Youtube for a year before joining TGN. I chose exactly this network because none of the popular networks at those times (Machinima, Yeousch) were interested in partnering me. I almost became a part of one extremely small and shitty network, VisionTV (Doesn't exist anymore or is in the rebuilding process). But luckily TGN accepted me and I became a part of their network. I was extremely happy to get partner features like clickable banner and custom thumbnails. Too bad custom thumbnails now aren't partner exclusive but clickable banners don't even exist anymore. At the time when I joined TGN, there were a lot of dissatisfied partners. People were getting horrible CPMs. Partners were posting threads on TGN forums telling everyone how bad their CPM is. The threads were eventually deleted and partners banned from the forums. It was just a disaster. The explanation for the low CPMs is very simple. TGN was lying about their payout. When I joined the network, TGN was offering 80% rev share contracts, kind of... As finds out later BBTV was taking a cut of 40%. So after some calculations we can conclude that TGN takes another 20% of that 60%, resulting in one of the worst revenue shares on Youtube - 48/52%. No big surprise partners were getting below 50 cent CPMs. Although the payout plan was horrible, my first payment was just average. Nowadays it would be categorized as ''very bad'' but back in the days it was just average, at least much better than most people at TGN were getting. I had problems receiving my 2nd payment but TGN support was very quick and friendly. At first I didn't believe that they'd even bother fixing my issue. But finds out they fixed it in a few days and I got my payment. One day my video    • The Best SMG to use in Counter Strike...   was accepted to be uploaded on tgnFPS hub. The channel was designed specifically for First Person Shooter videos. After a few months of desperate waiting I still didn't see my video up there. Then one sudden day the CEO of TGN, George left he network. It was an absolute mess when the new CEO, Awall came to the place. But eventually he wanted to make changes at TGN and he disabled most hub channels. tgnFPS became inactive. Even though the hub had a pretty small subscriber base, I wanted my video up there just to get that extra promotion. But my P90 breakdown video was never uploaded to TGN's channel... But as the Awall became the CEO, the lies at TGN stopped. Finally. He clarified things about the payment. He told everyone that BBTV is taking a 40% cut but the rest of the money from now on is going to go to the partners. The 60/40% revenue share still is one of the worst on Youtube, but definitely better than their previous 48/52%. For me the new rev share didn't make any difference. The whole 2013 my CPM was very strange. One month it was good, another month it was below average. It's strange because with every next month, the CPM should get bigger since the Christmas is coming closer and advertisers spend more money on the ads. Looks like it wasn't my case... While in 2013 my CPM was still OK, in the early 2014 it became just ridiculous. Of course January and February are the months when CPMs are very low but damn... This low. I've talked to several partners from different networks. None of them is getting such a low CPM. Honestly, I think I need a change for my channel. Machinima gave me a pretty good contract so I decided to accept it. My experience with TGN, even though there were many flaws, was great. It was a family-like feeling to be a part of such network, especially in the good old George times. I understand that he was lying about the payout, but he was such a fantastic personality. He was so positive about stuff. Maybe it was his trick to make partners more happy. But if it was a trick, I gotta say it worked very well on me. At the moment though, TGN is pumping out just stupid contracts. A person with at least minimal knowledge in Youtube won't sign it. Now, if you can get a not-so-long contract, by all means, you can join the network. But there's really no reason to join them on this pathetic contract. I hope you guys learned something new from this video. Also, I hope my subscribers respect my decision to sign with Machinima. Let me know what you think!
