Hidden behind the old timber walls is a station story that hits harder than you expect. Yanga Homestead isn’t polished or precious — it’s real. Built by hand, expanded over decades, and shaped by the people who lived and worked here, the place still carries the marks of a working Riverina powerhouse. Every room feels like someone just stepped out for a moment. What makes it stand out is that you can walk straight into an old station house and everything still feels real — not roped off, not polished, not turned into a museum. The rooms are raw, lived‑in, and full of the kind of details you never get from a sign on the highway. It’s the sort of stop where you open a door and instantly think, “Yep… people actually lived like this.” And then you hit the kicker: Yanga Lake with it amazing views and bush walks. We’re part-time nomads cruising around in our vintage Windsor caravan, called Kevin. We are chasing history, nature and discovering new places across Australia. We travel with Dougie, our Aussie Terrier, who joins us on walks and is always happy to receive a friendly pat along the way. From free campsites to showgrounds and caravan parks, we offer practical tips on which places are dog-friendly and which ones might be a bit tricky if you're travelling with a furry companion.
