It's that time of that year again. Orphaned baby flying-foxes have been milk fed before being weaned onto fruit, they are flying well and they are ready for release back to the wild. Our orphans go into a batty creche where they are held for a couple of weeks to acclimatise. After this time and provided weather conditions are stable, they are soft released back into a nearby colony whilst being support fed until they have completely assimilated into that colony and are fully self sufficient. River Wrigglesworth will be flying free very soon to continue on as millions of his forebears have done before him, pollinating and spreading the seeds of biodiversity in Australian forests.
