Here is a video taken in January 2025, featuring the MTA NYC Subway - in particular, the Fulton St Line! Four (4) retired and partly stripped Pullman Standard R46 cars (1 set) was transferred from Pitkin Yard to 38th Street Yard, where it will be prepared for ultimate disposal from NYCT property. These particular cars - 6138 through 6141 - were among the first R46 cars to be replaced by the R211A cars, being retired back in April 2024. They seem to have been stripped of so many parts that they could not move under their own power and had to be towed by diesel locomotives as seen in this video. Trivially, car 6141 in this set is notable for having been on the first R46 train in passenger service almost 50 years ago in July 1975! As more R211 cars enter service, the R46 cars running on the A/C are being transferred to Coney Island Yard for the N/Q/W or being directly retired and replaced. To make way for replacement R211 cars, retired cars appear to be getting sent out of Pitkin Yard. This time around, the retired cars seem to be getting sent off property, as most decommissioned R32 cars have since been scrapped.
