The surrounding region has a quiet and relaxing atmosphere, with beautiful and unspoilt scenery and many small villages to explore. Moraira has an impressive marina, an excellent variety of local shops, markets, harbourside fish restaurants and bars and best of all has still managed to preserve its Spanish character. Moraira enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate, with cool sea breezes in summer and protection by surrounding mountains against the cold North winds in winter. The area averages nearly 3,000 hours of sunshine each year and the average temperature easily exceeds 20 degrees. The picturesque waterfront promenade is also very charming, as is the old town of Moraira, where numerous good restaurants and hip tapas bars invite you to linger with a view of the sea. The promenade connects the beach Playa de l’Ampolla in the west with the beautiful marina in the eastern part of the port city. Portet Beach This is considered the most picturesque beach in the town. With soft white sand and shallow turquoise water, many of the beautiful villas in Moraira overlook this sheltered bay and out over the Mediterranean. This beach has a relaxing ambience, with boats moored in the bay and visitors bathing in the calm water. Also a popular beach in Moraira for families as it has fantastic clean facilities, lifeguards and restaurants with terraces where you can dine accompanied by spectacular views. Ampolla Beach With soft white sand and peaceful water, this is the best beach in Moraira for families. Perfect for young swimmers, this beach has a small stream that runs into the sea, where children will have hours of fun building sand castles and playing in the shallow water. Other facilities on this beach include a volleyball net, climbing apparatus and showers.
