I’ve always struggled to see myself as someone with authority in the art world. The more I learn, the more I realize how much there still is to learn. But at the same time, I’ve built a strong foundation over the years. I may not be an “expert,” but I do know more than I often give myself credit for. The person I was working with knew very little about art, yet they were in a position to teach it. Seeing that helped me recognize something in myself — that I do have knowledge, experience, and perspective worth trusting. Once I understood the lesson, everything shifted. It became easier to work with them, and I felt more grounded in my own confidence. Sometimes the most difficult people in our lives become our greatest mirrors.
