'Sections' - Live performance to camera by Paul Coombs (2021)

Live to camera performance of work-in-progress piece 'Sections', recorded at Chisenhale Studios, London E3 on 4th October 2021. Written and performed by Paul Coombs. 'Sections' explores the impacts of anti-gay legislation and queer inequality in the UK on those who grew up under their influence. Experiences were gathered from the public through an open-call and collaged together with the artist's own to form a single, first-person narrative. The work was produced during a month-long residency at Chisenhale Studios in September 2021, as part of their 'Stido 4 Residency' programme, and presented within the scrawled space in which it was created. The piece was performed 16 times as a work-in-progress, evolving over the course of 3 days at the end of the residency. This recording was made after these test-runs to capture how the piece ended up.
