This is probably my favorite haunted spot in the City of Santa Clara. The history behind this INSANE ASYLUM runs deep within the community. Whether there are horror stories hidden within the ghosts of the past, we will never know. However, the overall history of AGNEWS INSANE ASYLUM is one of great esteem and praise of being innovative with treatment for mental health and amazing living conditions. The biggest recorded tragedy in Agnews happened during the Great San Francisco Earthquake that shook the Bay Area. The earthquake caused their great bell tower to collapse causing the death of over 100 patients and workers. It is still the largest death toll in a single tragedy recorded in Santa Clara to this day. This area is no longer a mental institute, but a few of the buildings have been restored and protected as historic buildings.
