Once we removed the old light and saw it was not strong enough for the fan I was worried but found this device online and thought i would give it a chance. If you don't want to cut and patch the drywall I'd encourage you to give this a try. With the old box knocked out of the way with a wooden block the new one slipped into place and was easy to install. The bar expanded easily, to fit tightly between the studs, and the clip fit well and firmly over the bar to hold the metal electrical box. Once that was installed, then it was easy to finish the wiring and get it working. Unit came with all the hardware you needed so thx for making it easy.
