If you have high temperature on the Vram with the 1.5mm, try 2mm. If you have high hotspot on the core because of the 2mm, try to make them thinner with something that can do exactly what "rolling pin" does. Try to make them thinner couple of times little by little until you get the perfect gpu contact, but good memory contact too.
