Because that's what the quest demands. You weep. You break. And then you walk. Again. And again. No longer men, but engines of war. Engines of fate they can't ignore. Unstoppable toward Lothlórien's shore. 🌲 They fell through stairs, lungs burning, legs screaming, into a hall kissed by eastern dawn. An orc captain stood with his fools, blade raised. Aragorn struck—steel from below. The point burst free through crown and bone. Grief and fury in one clean arc. Death stood tall in silent tone. The servants fled. Aragorn cast aside their fallen lord without a word. There's no time for mercy. There's barely time to breathe. ⚔️ They nearly collapsed beneath the weight of what they'd lost. But Strider's voice pulled them upright. Stand. Move. Now. Gimli bled behind clenched teeth, cursing Caradhras—white and grand, still smiling in the open sun while they crawled scarred from darkness below. But then he saw it: Durin's stone. The Mirrormere. Ancient eyes staring back through starlit water. His rage drowned in beauty he thought was lost forever. The mountain took Balin. But it gave him THIS. 🏔️💧 They pressed on. Backs split by cold. Through boiling ice and silver streams. There they healed Sam and Frodo with athelas leaves and gentler dreams. Mithril answered riverlight—silver to silver, clear and thin. And as they entered Lothlórien, something changed. They walked, made light by elven song. Time itself slowed. Bowed. Yielded. For the first time since Moria, they could finally stop marching. And Legolas sang of Nimrodel—of gentler days, of elves who once walked in sunlight, of beauty that endures even when grief feels eternal.
