Making an elm hollowform with Woodcut Pro-Forme tools! This is absolutely one of my favorites things: making hollowform vases! And i just bought this awesome Woodcut Pro-Forme hollowing system and it is by far the best I've tried. It's super stable, high quality and just super effective.. And super expensive, but whatever. You get what you pay for. That's just how it is. Turning this vessel on my Killinger 1450SE woodturning lathe. Recently, I got a few nice elm logs (Ulmus glabra) and thought it would be about time to make a bigger vessel. Elm is really unforgiving.. You make tool handles of this and it's hard! It's also tough as it's fed up with silica that is hard on the tools. They need sharpening waaay more than the usual trees I work with. And this took me a full day.. Haha, as you can see in the end, I struggle to keep the tool steady, because of the distance from the tool rest to the tip of the tool. There's so much tension and power that you'll end up beaten if you aren't focusing.
