This week on CEO Live Talks with Dr. Swannie Jett, we welcome Gerina D. Whethers, Louisville’s Chief Prosecutor and Commonwealth’s Attorney for Jefferson County. With more than 20 years of legal experience, Attorney Whethers shares her commitment to ethical prosecution, public safety, and ensuring justice is carried out with fairness, dignity, and respect for all. Since taking office in May 2023, Attorney Whethers has led an office of more than 100 attorneys, investigators, and victim advocates working daily to protect the innocent and prosecute the guilty on behalf of over 700,000 Jefferson County residents. She is the first African American woman to serve as Commonwealth’s Attorney for Jefferson County since the office’s inception and was elected by the people in 2024 to continue her service, beginning her first full term in 2025. In this conversation, Attorney Whethers reflects on her leadership journey, including her prior roles as Kentucky Cabinet Secretary, Executive Director of the Office of Senior Protection and Mediation, and Executive Director of Victim Advocacy in the Kentucky Office of the Attorney General.
