Wild Atlantic Way - Is this better than Mizen Head ? [S1-E41]

In this episode we continue our Road trip south along the Wild Atlantic way. We leave the amazing Sheep's Head peninsular, which we explored in our last video and head south towards Mizen Head. On our way we drive through Crookhaven - a beautiful seaside village. Unfortunately we couldn't stop there because it was so busy - so we'll have to come back. It looked wonderful and the area should be visited if you're exploring the Wild Atlantic Way. We had planned to visit and walk Mizen Head. Mizen Head is the most south western point of Ireland. We discovered that unfortunately they charge you to enter or walk the coastal route to Mizen head and so we decided to discover and explore a less well know walk called Three Castles Head. To get to Three castle Head you have to drive down a very narrow road ! If you have a vehicle any bigger than Trudy then I wouldn't try !! At the end of the road there is a carpark and you walk through a gate to start the walk to three castle head. The land belongs to a local farmer and in theory it is free to enter they only ask for a voluntary contribution of a few euros per person. It was worth it the walk and views are amazing. You can clearly see Mizen Head from the walk, as it is the peninsular above. Lots of sheep graze the lands. As you walk over the hill you are greeted with the most amazing view and the castle. There are not three large separate castle but 3 elements of the castle. If you are planning a visit to Mizen head and your vehicle isn't too large for the lane then you must visit this wonderful less known hidden gem. The Wild Atlantic Way is one of the longest designated coastal road trips in the world at over 2,500 km long. Our road trip of the Wild Atlantic Way started at the most Northern Point of Ireland - Malin Head and finished all the way at the bottom in the town of Kinsale. The Wild Atlantic way is a road trip of a lifetime and that’s why we just had to do it and produce a travel series of vlogs of our experiences along this magical road. We saw beautiful and dramatic cliffs, stunning beaches, the best sunsets, met lots of lovely people, sung at a shanty festival and saw Ireland at it’s best. If you come to Ireland you must visit the Wild Atlantic Way - even if you can’t do the complete road trip just go and do part of it - absolutely awesome and what a road trip to start off our never ending journey around the Globe.
