Just a quick video showing my set up. I have the Icom IC7300, MFJ1708SDR, OmniRig and SDRPlay RSP1a receiver. The idea is that you are adding a second receiver to give you the option to add a panadapter / waterfall / spectrum scope where there is no IF output on your rig.. This second receiver (SDR) is controlled through the OmniRig program so HDSDR is controlled via the rig and vice-versa. There are 2 models of MFJ switch. The 1708 and the 1708SDR. On the SDR model, the Transmitter and Antenna sockets are tied together inside. On the 1708 model, they are not and you will need to do this. If in doubt, get the MFJ-1708SDR model. I downloaded HDSDR from the SDRPlay website as the EXTIO DLL files were included for my SDR. OmniRig is the little piece of software which ties the HDSDR and your main rig together. This needs to be set up in the OmniRig settings. There are many other SDR programs, such as SDRUno, SDR Sharp and SDR Console. Some work with OmniRig, others don't.
