Out on Zatar Music, this release brings together some of the most exciting names in deep house and electronic music, breathing new life into this iconic track. Phonique first encountered Erlend Øye’s voice in 2003 when he received a promo of a Morgan Geist track featuring the Norwegian artist. Instantly captivated, he soon discovered Øye’s extensive musical background, including his work with Kings of Convenience and his unforgettable vocals on Röyksopp’s 'Poor Leno' and 'Remind Me'. A chance connection through their mutual friend Annie led to Phonique and Øye meeting in Berlin, sparking a musical friendship that resulted in collaborations such as the Erlend Øye DJ-Kicks mix and the much-loved 'For The Time Being'. As Øye was forming The Whitest Boy Alive, he and Phonique continued to jam together, and ‘Casualities’ was born, finding its place on 'Good Idea' in 2007. To complete the full-circle moment, Morgan Geist was invited to remix the track for the original 12” release. Now the new release assembles the best remixes of 'Casualities' including two brand-new reworks by GRIFE & Albuquerque and Nacho Varela & Cruz Vittor. Brazilian producers GRIFE & Albuquerque offer a deep, hypnotic rework of ‘Casualities,’ transforming it into an entrancing house journey. Known for their atmospheric soundscapes, GRIFE and Albuquerque, a key figure in Brazil’s underground scene and a resident of Warung Beach Club, merge their styles to create a rolling groove with lush textures and crisp percussion. Nacho Varela & Cruz Vittor, the Argentine duo renowned for their emotive deep house productions, also contribute a fresh remix, available here for the first time. Their sound is defined by deep, melodic elements and ethereal atmospheres and their take on ‘Casualities’ brings a warm, flowing energy, intertwining melancholic tones with an uplifting, cinematic approach. Alongside the two new remixes, the release features an impressive selection of reworks: Gorje Hewek Remix & Extended Remix: The Russian producer delivers an organic, deep house interpretation filled with lush, evolving textures. YAME Remix: A contemporary take on the track, fusing deep grooves with a modern club-ready feel. Morgan Geist Remix: The legendary producer, known for his work with Metro Area, adds his signature touch, staying true to the groove while injecting an unmistakable funk. Burnski Remix: A bass-heavy, rolling remix from the UK artist, who has made waves in house and minimal circles.
