Hi everyone, welcome back! In today’s video, we’re starting a brand new challenge series where I attempt to complete one of my kingdoms in its entirety. We begin this series in the Kingdom of Mideaux, heartland of the Midlands, and the first kingdom I started in this world. I decided to start off this challenge with a remodel of Portouest, inspired by Saint-Malo, as the Kingdom will now be taking inspiration from mainly Brittany and Normandy. This city and its surroundings are divided into five distinct areas: The Portefort, The Seaward Quarter, The Old Quarter, Loisselet, and Sanseaux. Songlist: Travel the Seas for You Tavern at Closing Celebration Inn Ancient Highlands --- Background: Portouest is a fortified coastal city located on a peninsula along the western coast of Mideaux. It guards the kingdom’s second largest and second most important harbor, and is anchored by the Portefort, a broad flatland stone fortress overlooking both the sea and inland routes. The fortress houses the Seat of Lady Raseul of House Raseul, liegelord of the surrounding settlements of Sanseaux and Loisselet. At the peninsula’s end lies the Seaward Quarter, a densely packed walled district built to strict architectural codes. Tall, uniform stone houses with slate roofs cluster around narrow courtyards, and a large cathedral dominates the center. The quarter hosts many of Mideaux’s wealthiest residents and merchants, sustained by vital trade routes linking Florice, Bridgeport, and Aelithia. Across the harbor, the Old Quarter marks the city’s oldest area of habitation. It consists of tightly packed row houses lining the waterfront, with a less orderly layout and humbler appearance. Adjacent wheat fields supply much of the region’s grain, and the quarter remains home to Portouest’s laboring class. South-east of the city lie the outlying villages of Loisselet and Sanseaux. Loisselet is a small hamlet on a quiet lagoon, sparsely populated and surrounded by fertile farmland. Further south is Sanseaux, the southernmost village in the kingdom. Both settlements are inhabited by farmers, shepherds, butchers, fishermen, and traders.
