KANNIYAKUMARI (TAMIL NADU) TO DIBRUGARH (ASSAM) : FULL TRAIN JOURNEY : INDIA'S LONGEST RUNNING TRAIN : 22503 KANNIYAKUMARI - DIBRUGARH VIVEK SUPERFAST EXPRESS : 4154 KM : 79 HOURS TRAIN JOURNEY : IRCTC ECATERING FOOD REVIEW : INDIAN RAILWAYS 22503/Kanniyakumari - Dibrugarh Vivek SF Express (PT) कन्याकुमारी - डिब्रुगढ़ विवेक सुपरफास्ट एक्सप्रेस CAPE/Kanniyakumari -- DBRG/Dibrugarh The 22503 / 22504 Dibrugarh–Kanyakumari Vivek Express is a Daily Superfast Express train of the Vivek Express series belonging to Indian Railways and operated by Northeast Frontier Railway which runs from Dibrugarh in India's north eastern state Assam to Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu the southernmost state of India. In 74 hours 35 minutes the train covers a distance of 4,189 kilometres (2,603 mi) and traverses through eight states in India. This train is currently the longest train route in India by both distance and time, as well as the 28th-longest train service in the world. The train has 57 halts across its route. Vivek Express is a series of four Express Trains on the Indian Railways network. These trains were announced in the Railway Budget of 2011-12 by the then Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee. These trains were started to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. Vivek express also holds another place in the history of Indian railways, as being the last train to halt its services, when the entire Indian railway passenger services came to standstill following the COVID19 pandemic and the subsequent nationwide lockdown in March 2020. Dibrugarh - Kanyakumari Vivek Express joins Dibrugarh in Assam, North-East India to Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu which is the southernmost tip of India. The train No:22504 starts from Dibrugarh at 7:55 PM and reaches Kanyakumari at 9:55 PM on the fourth day of journey. In the return direction the train no: 22503 leaves Kanyakumari at 5:25 PM and reaches Dibrugarh at 8:50 PM on the fourth day of the journey. This train runs through Assam, Nagaland, West Bengal, Bihar, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. This train also passes through Sahibganj district and Pakur district of Jharkhand but it does not have any stoppages there. The train is hauled by WDP-4D Locomotive of Diesel Loco Shed, Siliguri from Dibrugarh to New Cooch Behar. Then it is hauled by WAP-7 Locomotive of Electric Loco Shed, Visakhapatnam from New Cooch Behar up to Visakhapatnam. Lastly from Visakhapatnam to Kanniyakumari it is hauled by WAP-7 locomotive of Electric Loco Shed, Royapuram / Erode. Some important halts of this train are : Guwahati , New Jalpaiguri , Malda Town , Rampurhat Junction , Kharagpur Junction , Bhubaneswar , Visakhapatnam Junction , Katpadi Junction etc. Kanniyakumari railway station (formerly Cape Comorin railway station), (station code:- CAPE) is an NSG–4 category Indian railway station in Thiruvananthapuram railway division of Southern Railway zone. It is a railway terminus of the Indian Railways serving the coastal town of Kanyakumari in the state of Tamil Nadu. It is the southernmost railway station on the Indian mainland. It is a part of the Thiruvananthapuram railway division of Southern Railway zone. The Kanyakumari rail station is located in the heart of Kanyakumari and is only 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) away from Kanyakumari beach. It is one of the 73 stations in Tamil Nadu to be named for upgradation under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme of Indian Railways. Dibrugarh railway station is a railway junction station on the Lumding–Dibrugarh section. It is rated as an A Category railway station in Northeast Frontier Railway and is located in Dibrugarh, the 3rd largest city in the Indian state of Assam. Dibrugarh railway station (DBRG) is the second railway station of the historic city of Dibrugarh after Dibrugarh Town railway station (DBRT). It is the largest railway station in Northeast India in terms of area covering approx 400 Bighas of Land. Nearest to the India's longest rail-cum-road Bogibeel Bridge which connects Southern Bank to Northern Bank of Assam. The Dibrugarh–Kanyakumari Vivek Express was named in memories of Sri Swami Vivekananda which was introduced by Former Railway Minister Smt Mamata Banerjee on 19 November 2011. It is the only train service which covers the longest route in India. The train runs for 4,154 km across the states of Assam, Nagaland, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Tamil Nadu in 75 hours. The Iconic Engineering Marvel 4.94 km (3 mi) long, combined Rail-Cum-Road Bogibeel Bridge across the Brahmaputra connects the Souther Bank of Assam Dibrugarh with the Northern Bank of Assam Dhemaji. The foundation of the infrastructure was laid by Former Prime Minister, Sri Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 2002, which is finally dedicated to the Nation on 25 December 2018 by Honourable Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi.
