Jason DeSalvo introduces us to a specially built for NAMM 2016 Emperor 5 Elite. Where to buy: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53... The 2016 NAMM bass #1 was designed entirely by the owners of Fodera themselves, Vinny, Joey, and Jason. For their NAMM bass, the partners chose to go with an Emperor 5 Elite with an Ash body, Alder tone block, and Birdseye Maple fingerboard. This combination yields a tone that has the punch and articulation of a classic 70s Ash/Maple combo, but a touch warmer thanks to the inclusion of the Alder tone block. This makes it a more even tone for fingerstyle without sacrificing any of the fidelity of the slap sound. From afar, this bass looks classic and somewhat understated (with a non-solid Holly top, matching wooden pickup covers, 5-piece Maple neck with Bubinga stringers, and an Ebony ramp) but a closer look reveals more levels of detail including tulip inlays at the 12th and 24th frets, a flame neck center, and copious amounts of figure in the Birdseye Maple fingerboard, and the only piece of Birdseye Alder we have ever seen the tone block! Specifications: • Ash Body, Alder Tone Block • Holly Topwood • 5-pc Maple Neck w/ Bubinga Stringers, Birdseye Maple FB • Fodera / Duncan Dual Coil Pickups in Wooden Pickup Covers • 34 inch scale, 24 large frets, 5-strings • Ebony Tulip Inlays • Black Fodera 19.0mm Custom Bridge • Fodera / Pope 3-Band Custom Preamp • Emperor Control Layout Go to http://www.mikesgig.com for more artist and musical equipment stories and videos.
