(12 Oct 1995) T/I: 11:19:47 GS 10:04:55 Sarajevans woke on Thursday (12/10) to quiet. With a last minute agreement announced on Wednesday night (11/10) the guns fell silent at one past midnight. Thursday morning had a distinct feeling of normality, with Sarajevans heading to work, and lingering on street corners in casual groups. But a short time after the ceasefire started, a mortar hit an apartment block in the capital. A gas explosion seriously injured four people. The explosion is the first of what could be many. A 14-year-old boy injured in the explosion is in a critical condition. In north-west Bosnia, government forces claimed to have swept out the Serbs by capturing several key towns including Sanski Most. In an effort to test the ceasefire, a UN aid convoy attempted to reach the enclave of Gorazde. The convoy accompained by the US embassador to Bosnia, was forced to stop and turn around because of mines in the road.
