Christothea Herodotou and Claire Maguire from the Open University UK present an innovative system of tracking student performance and how teachers make use of the system to proactively support students at risk. They discuss implications and next steps including the design of a similar system for use by students. Ethan Henry from City, University of London, adopted learning analytics into their student support processes in 2020. He outlines how City have implemented learning analytics, what lessons have been learnt during this implementation, and the key aspects to consider when adopting learning analytics now or in the future. Zachary Megeath and Zara Latif, Chemistry students at the University of York, dive into how they used Xerte and xAPI to create an adaptive tutorial to replace pre-laboratory teaching. They cover in brief what they made, what they learnt from the xAPI analytics and discuss some of the feedback from students about their experience. They then briefly touch on their own experience of using xAPI and Xerte.
