The village is located in the Akole tehsil, Ahmednagar district of the state of Maharashtra, about 185 kilometres (115 mi) from Mumbai and 155 kilometres (96 mi) from Ahmednagar. Bhandardara is home to Mount Kalsubai, the highest peak (5,400 ft or 1,600 m) in Maharashtra.
