Prior to the execution of our Virtual Scylla project in the late noughties ( • Ex-HMS Scylla Reef in VR and Artificial Li... and • Maverick TV - The Virtual Scylla Project (... ), we were fortunate to be able to accompany the @national marine aquarium and the Marine Biological Association offshore to undertake ROV dives onto the wreck in Whitsand Bay, Cornwall, in order to gain some appreciation of the state of the ship as she lay on the seabed, together with the early species of flora and fauna colonising the artificial reef. This is one of two videos captured using a VideoRay ROV in 2007 and 2008. In this, the 2007 video, water and current strength conditions were not good, but it’s possible to make out some of the bow deck area early on (including the remains of the Exocet launch rails), leading to an approach of the ship’s bridge, even (around 04:45) a descent into the bridge itself. The ROV then descends to the seabed on the starboard side to the wreck, where various fish and starfish can be seen amongst the debris field. Various locations of the holes cut into the side of the ship (to ensure an upright sinking) are then explored,
