The short answer is: 212 degree steam will not allow a dust pile to reach 800 degrees. The problem is moisture... in the set and in the air. You can dry a set to 0% moisture in the back glass of your car in 3 days. Not only will you have the 170 degrees working for you but the AC also. When you drive around, the AC is pulling moisture out of the air too... When those embers get too easy for you, start keeping your sets in the house which is probably about a 6-7% environment. Lastly, when that's no longer a challenge, store your sets outside under a covered porch. If you can overcome the 15+% moisture content... YOU WILL HAVE ARRIVED at the expert level. All last year I stored my sets outside and only had a success rate of about 10%. LOL!!! I'm not going to work that hard again this year. By the way, before last year, I always stored my sets in the house and had about an 80% success rate. For another great way to deal with Hand Drill and Bow Drill Moisture problems, please check out my Drying Cycles Playlist (LINK below). Drying Cycles are repeated burn ins where you're letting the steam escape between burn ins. When you start seeing black dust then you can go for the ember. Today I'm using the Mullein Spindle on a Shortleaf Pine fire board with dampish pine needles tinder. I did not use ashes for grip today but there was ashes residue on the spindle already. I pinned the board down with my Stainless Mora Companion. Please SUBSCRIBE at the end of the video. Thanks!
