He claims that despite selling 500,000 records and having a 12% royalty rate, he received less than a quarter of the money he was due from the label. Ed felt disrespected and soon demanded the rest of his owed earnings. However, his requests were not met, causing him to consider legal action. Notably, Run-D.M.C. visited him during this time, discouraging him from taking matters into his own hands and instead resolving the situation legally. Despite finally receiving some of his owed money through the court system, Ed maintains that it still fell far short of his calculations based on his supposed contract with Profile Records.
