On the second day of my prestigious Izu/Hakone trip, I took the Odoriko train from Odawara to Izukyu Shimoda Station and took the Shimoda Ropeway right next to Shimoda Station. From the summit of Mt. Negata, we were able to see a spectacular view of Shimoda Port and Shimoda Fuji. The summit of Mt. Nesugata is a park where you can enjoy a stroll. You can also see the castle that used to be the Shimoda Art Museum halfway up the mountain. I quickly walked along Perry Road and went to see the Perry Fleet Arrival Monument. Mid-May is the best time to see American jasmine, and the city of Shimoda was in full bloom and beautiful. Ryosenji Temple, where the Kurofune Museum is located, is famous as a temple of American jasmine, and it is said that 1,000 jasmine trees are planted there. I didn't know about it, so I missed it, but if you're going to Shimoda from mid-to-late May, don't miss it. It's early in the season for hydrangeas in Shimoda Park, so I think it's wonderful to see the cute American jasmine flowers. The entire journey this time is as follows, and it will continue after this, so please stay tuned. I went to Hakone by Odakyu Highway Bus from Busta Shinjuku in Tokyo. It's difficult to get to Hakone from Osaka, so I stayed at Mee-chan's house in Tokyo, and after visiting a lot of museums with the Tokyo Museum Gurutto Pass, Mee-chan and I left Shinjuku for Hakone. (This time, it's "A" and Mee-chan) On the first day, we went to the Hakone Glass Forest Museum, where you can see the beautiful sparkling Venetian glass with Owakudani in the background, the Hakone Municipal Hakone Wet Flower Garden, which is a little-known place full of nature, and Owakudani, which is a classic sightseeing spot in the majestic Hakone area. On the second day, after enjoying the luxury of staying at the Fujiya Hotel, we moved to Shimoda, enjoyed the Shimoda Ropeway and Perry Road, and enjoyed the hot springs at Yamatokan. On the third day, we took a boat at Irozaki, enjoyed the spectacular view of the geopark, took a detour to Ito, and went to Tokaikan. I went there from May 16th to 18th, 2023, and the weather was very nice, so I was able to fully enjoy the spectacular scenery of Izu Hakone.
