The endoscopic decompression of interdigital neuroma (EDIN) procedure is an endoscopic technique used to surgically treat Morton's neuroma. Performed through 3 small incisions, the EDIN procedure preserves the interdigital nerve. The EDIN procedure differs from traditional neurectomy, or removal of the nerve, by releasing the intermetatarsal ligament and leaving the nerve in place. This EDIN procedure significantly reduces post operative complications compared to traditional neurectomy. The EDIN procedure is an ambulatory procedure, meaning that patients can bear weight on the foot the same day of surgery. Most patients are in Band-Aids and back in shoes 3 days post-op.
