How much load can MDF take ??

A while back we tested a bunch of smaller screws in MDF but I've always wondered how much weight MDF can handle if you use the full extent of the screw thread - i.e. you allow the thread to protrude through the other side of the board. Today we find out! I'm using: TurboGold single thread 4 x 30mm QuickSilver twin thread 8ga x 1" SilverScrew single thread 5 x 40mm Testing in non-MR Medite Trade and Medite MR 18mm MDF. The results pretty much conclusively prove that if you're having problems getting MDF to grip screws then you're either using very low quality MDF or the wrong screws. Try some of the above with decent MDF and see how you get on.
