Samui Elephant sanctuary is located approximately 10-15 minutes from Chaweng. Once you book through the website (https://www.samuielephantsanctuary.org) transport is organised to collect you from your hotel and drop you off afterwards. Prior to interacting with the Elephants you are shown an informative safety video and shown how to prepare the food for the Elephants. We then spent time feeding the Elephants the food we had prepared and told the age, the names and some information about how they arrived at the sanctuary. We then watched Elephants bathing and walked amongst some Elephants and fed them around the sanctuary. Afterwards we were provided a delicious vegetarian Thai buffet meal. We would highly recommend Samui Elephant Sanctuary because each Elephant has been saved from working in forestry industry or Elephant rides. This sanctuary does not have bathing with Elephants or riding on them.
