What is Strawberry Gelato? Strawberry gelato is a delightful frozen dessert that's not only irresistibly creamy, but also bursting with the sweet and tangy flavors of fresh strawberries. It's a beloved Italian treat that offers a smoother texture than traditional ice cream, thanks to its lower butterfat content and slower churning process. With its vibrant pink hue and refreshing taste, strawberry gelato is the perfect indulgence for any occasion, be it a sunny afternoon or a cozy evening in. Tools You'll Need To Make Strawberry Gelato Ice Cream Machine Measuring cups Measuring Spoons Sauce Pan Bowl Whisk Knife and cutting board Immersion Blender kitchen thermometer Ingredients for Strawberry Gelato 4 cups of Local Strawberries 1/3 cup of Sugar 1 Gelato Plain Base ( • Solid like a Rock | Gelato Plain Base ) 1 teaspoon of Vanilla Extract Instructions: Remove the green leaves off the strawberries Pour in the sugar on the strawberries and blend until smooth. Gelato Plain/Strawberry Base Heat the cream/milk mixture. Stir in the strawberry mixture in the cream/milk mixture. While the cream is warming up, split the 4 egg yolks into a bowl Mix the sugar with the egg yolks and stir vigorously until incorporated. When the cream/milk reaches 170F, scoop about 1/3 cup of the cream into the egg mixture and stir as you're pouring; when it is all mixed in, pour another 1/3 cup of the cream and stir. Once it is all mixed, pour the whole mixture into the pot and warm the whole mixture until it thickens. You'll know when it's ready when the mixture covers the back of a wooden spoon and stays. The surface bubbles will also be gone. It will approximately take 12-15 minutes. Do not let the mixture go above 185F. When it reaches a good thickness, strain it into a bowl, let cool and put in the fridge for overnight. The next day..... Mix in the vanilla extract in the Gelato Strawberry Base. Pour your mixture into the ice cream machine. You can eat it right away or put it in the freezer to cool for a few hours if you would like a cooler gelato. Making strawberry gelato at home is a rewarding and delicious experience that allows you to savor the pure, authentic taste of strawberries in every spoonful.
