The Martin D35 has its origins in 1965, when Martin exchanged the two-piece rear for a three-piece due to the small size of the available pieces of Brazilian rosewood. Boasting this distinctive feature, the D35 found a place between the iconic D28 and the more decorated guitars such as the D41 and D45. Martin's last Brazilian rosewood guitar bears serial number '254497'. This D35 has the serial number '245484', so although it was built in 1969, it was in one of the last batches guitars to still have Brazilian rosewood! The tonewoods look beautiful and give this dreadnought a full and deep sound that demonstrates its power when strumming. It features a new bridge and newer frets, so it still provides optimal playability. The neck offers a real comfortable but also somewhat different feel than you'd might expect. The fretboard and the neck itself have been shaved a bit and the result is a relatively thin neck with a slightly different shape. The top has a small, repaired 'pickguard crack' and shows its age nicely with weather checking and the usual signs of use. Comes in a hardshell case with TFOA passport.
