Kolonaki literally meaning "small column" is a stylish neighbourhood in the centre of Athens. Kolonaki is located just below the slopes of Mount Lycabettus - the highest point in central Athens It is home the many gorgeous galleries and museums like the Benaki Museum - a neoclassical manor housing the art of Antonis Benakis. Other museums include the Byzantine Museum, The War Museum, Cycladic Arts Museum, all of which are in walking distance to the Greek National Gardens. There is a plethora of bars, restaurants and nightlife in Kolonaki - we visited our favourite place for brunch, ME Kolonaki. Kolonaki has many wonderful hotels including COCO-Mat, the hotel designed by architect Emmanuel Lazarides, known for designing the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier outside Greek Parliament.
