Making a metal scribe start to finish

I made one of these months ago and decided I need another one lying around the shop! The handle is made from walnut, which I cut up over a year ago, seems to be pretty stable. The metal scribe part is made from cnc machine guide rails. Not sure what type of steel they are but they do have a bit of carbon in them since I cannot cut these with a hacksaw. The wood is soaked in boiled linseed oil to protect it and give that grain the beauty it deserves!
