Part 2 of our video series: How to boost the energy self-sufficiency of a whole neighbourhood up to 90% with green hydrogen 🏡⚡💚 It’s time for an exciting update on the InnovaHub energy storage & grid balancing project that draws on 30 AEM Electrolysers; learn why it’s a role model for Europe ⬇ First things first, the Hylife Innovations InnovaHub District project will produce decentralised green hydrogen on the Dutch island of Goeree-Overflakkee, providing a residential district in Stad aan‘t Haringvliet with renewable electricity, heat, and cooling. A couple of weeks ago, we met with Rosalie, Manu and Niels to get an update on the progress. See the updates for yourself in the video: ✅Construction of the houses is progressing well ✅Onsite energy centre is being built ✅Testing of the system is in its final stages ✅It will be delivered to the island by the end of the year ✅Commissioning planned for Q1/2024 We’re really excited to see this project come to life, because the Gemeente Goeree-Overflakkee and its residents play a special pioneering role in driving the energy transition. A group of residents launched the "City Natural Gas Free" initiative a few years ago. Their goal is to replace natural gas with green hydrogen by 2030. Earlier last year, a survey was conducted to assess the mood among the residents: The turnout was very high, with 77.6% voting in favour of H2. This is a strong sign of how the energy transition can work in cooperation between public authorities, the private sector and end users.
