DAY OF THE DEAD Altar DIY Día de los Muertos (Dollar Tree) Hacks

Today we are going to decorate for Day of the Dead. Dia de los Muertos is a beautiful celebration of loved ones we have lost. We are going to build an altar today to celebrate the big day, using supplies from the Dollar Tree. First, we build a backdrop for the Day of the Dead altar. I use a brightly striped table cloth from Dollar Tree. I attach it to the wall along with a black table cloth from Dollar Tree cut in half as curtains on each side. I tie back the curtains with calaveras (skulls) from the dollar tree that were yard stakes. To decorate the top of the day of the dead backdrop, I use tissue pom poms from Dollar Tree in the colors of yellow and orange to represent marigolds, the flower of the dead. I hung a great Day of the Dead sign from the Dollar Tree, as well as a felt skulls garland from dollar tree. I cut papel picado (perforated paper) out of tissue paper and strung on ribbon from dollar tree. For the alter, I used miscellaneous tables and boxes to create levels. I used black and purple table cloths from dollar tree to cover the altar. I also used a day of the dead fabric piece from dollar tree as a table covering. I decorated the tablecover with yellow flowers from dollar tree and the rest of the tissue marigolds left over from the garland. I used dollar tree candles in various shapes and colors, including one day of the dead prayer candle. I took two day of the dead calaveras (skulls) and painted them ivory and made them stand with blocks. I also did the same thing to another skull yard stake from the dollar tree. I purchased matching black frames from the dollar tree and included photos of lost loved ones. I decorated a skull I had with a floral headband from the costume section at the dollar tree. I also painted a ceramic skull from the dollar tree with paint pens in a fun design. What was your favorite Crafty Beach project today? Do you celebrate Day of the Dead?
