Inter-state omni bus services across South India have been halted as operators protest against what they call double taxation by individual states. Around 1,500 buses have gone off the roads, disrupting travel across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Puducherry. Operators argue they already pay a ‘One India’ tax and that additional state levies have made operations unviable.
