New England Musters: Bath 2009

The first New England States Veteran Fireman's League Muster of 2009 in Bath, Maine on July 4, 2009. Hand tub crews from all over New England compete to see who can pump the longest stream of water. These are hand pumped fire engines from the 19th century that have been in competition since the first muster organized by the NESVFL in Bath, Maine on July 4, 1849. This is the oldest continually held sport in the United States. Musters blend historic preservation, mechanics, and competition and sometimes throw in a little fraternal beer consumption as well.
