This special live performance of the historic Marley Soft Shoe at the Michigan Celtic Festival 2025 (formerly Saline Celtic Festival) featured dancers Sheila and Emma of the CommonWealth Dance Collective (CDC). Musicians: Nate Jacobson and Sam Jacobson (fiddle), Sarah Vaujin (guitar) Backdrop designed and woven by: Emily Stepnick (‪@emilyastep‬) The Marley Soft Shoe is one of the original Vaudeville-era Marley dances, passed down from Anna Marley to Tony Barrand and Kari Smith, and now preserved by Sheila Graziano and Adam Wheeler through the Marley Project. This important cultural effort was supported by a grant from AACTMAD (Ann Arbor Community for Traditional Music and Dance). The CommonWealth Dance Collective is an ensemble based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, dedicated to preserving and performing traditional percussive dance styles. Our repertoire includes Appalachian clogging, Irish and Sean Nos dancing, Canadian step dancing, English clog dancing, tap dance, and historical Vaudeville-era Marley dances.
