It’s Saturday 23rd April 2005, and as the acting world mourns the death of, and paying tributes to, the great Sir John Mills, BBC1 was airing episode 5 of the then newly-'regenerated' Doctor Who (with Salford’s own Christopher Eccleston at the helm of the Tardis). It was the second part of the story World War III in which London was invaded by Slitheens. One of them was played by Annette Badland, who is currently pulling pints at the Queen Vic in Walford in her current role as Babe Smith in EastEnders. But before the main flagship network of the British Broadcasting Corportion steps into that famed 1950’s Police Box styled time/space machine. There is some unfinished business to sort out, in the guise of Graham Norton fronted Strictly Dance Fever (which is like Strictly Come Dancing which was launched the previous year, but with proper dancers instead of celebrities teaming up with professional dancers, and it’s a mix bag of dance style). Then, as it’s the BBC, a few trailers and onto the Tardis – one for The National Lottery Come and Have a Go (with Julian Clery) and another for The House of Tiny Taraways on BBC 3 - then a look ahead to what’s on later tonight – Casualty then the Strictly Dance Fever results show.
