An early Sunday trip 30 km away from home this time... To Sparreholm. Just - 1 degree at 05:05 AM when the first flight took place... My hands are still shaking. :) Enjoy! Sparreholm grew when the Västra stambanan was built and a station was built where the town is now located in 1862. The town got its name from Sparreholm's castle, which is located just north of the town. Originally, the farm where the castle is located was called Hyltingenäs, but when Göran Sparre built the castle building, it was named after him in 1643. Sparreholm's castle has had a number of families as owners, including Åkesson Natt och Dag, Hjorthufvud, Gylta, Sparre, Taube, Sprengtporten and Bonde. In addition to the railway, the timber industry has also been important for the town's growth. To the south of the town there are burial grounds from the Iron Age which show that people have lived in the area for at least 2,000 years. Sparreholm is located in Hyltinge parish and was included after the municipal reform in 1862 in Hyltinge country municipality . Sparreholm's municipal community was established on March 23, 1935. Between 1965 and 1970, the town was part of the city of Flen , from 1971 Sparreholm is included in the municipality of Flen. Eric von Rosen's hunting lodge stands in a clearing on the west side of Jaktstusjön. The small hunting lodge was designed by Ivar Tengbom in Old Norse style and built in 1909-1910 by carpenters from Dalarna. The area belonged to Rockelsta Castle . The hunting lake was created to heighten the magical atmosphere in the primeval forest-like nature. On the cottage's iron-clad doors you can read: "Eric von Rosen to Rockelsta had a cottage built for himself and his wife after Christi's birth in 1910. Ivar Tengbom drew the plan, Gunnar Hallström carved and painted the high seat posts, Dalamän timbered, Gårdssmeden forged". The cabin was to resemble a Viking house, or as one imagined a Viking house at the time. The main cabin and the kitchen are on the ground floor, while three small bedrooms can be found on the upper floor. The entrance side has a slightly cantilevered gable voice . In each short side there is an iron-clad entrance gate. The cabin's doors and interiors are decorated with hunting scenes with exotic animals, dragon coils and the occasional swastika . The Fenriswolf's head can be seen on the ridge . The swastika was von Rosen's badge , which looked more like a solar cross , and was used by him long before the Nazi era . Inside the cabin is a high seat with Thor and Odin carved by the artist Gunnar Hallström from each solid piece of timber and then painted by him. On the wall behind hangs a wall hanging with von Erik's house badge. The cottage also includes an outhouse, also designed in Old Norse style, and an earthen cellar . The hunting lodge was mainly used by von Rosen and his guests as a retreat where his husband retired to enjoy nature and live a simple life.
