O Samba da Minha Terra (The Samba of My Land) By Dorival Caymmi (Brazil) In memory of an old friend Martin Loyola (Martinho) R.I.P. Dear friends, in the 80s I had the opportunity to work with several well-known musicians in their respective styles. Among them was an extraordinary and talented Chilean bossa nova guitarist, singer, and percussionist who loved Brazilian music. He was known as Martinho. We formed a great friendship, and he often participated in my concerts and in every premiere of my original music. I loved him dearly for his unwavering loyalty; he never missed a concert commitment. Since my arrival in Australia in 1989, my friendship with him has remained there, and we are cherished in my memories together. Not long ago, someone told me that he had passed away, the cause of death unknown. But I've always carried him in my heart because he was a good friend, an outstanding artist, a great jazz improviser, and incredibly talented at adapting to any musical style. With this beautiful memory he left in this and other live recordings, I want to pay tribute to the musician Martin Luis Loyola Ramos (Martinho), who will always be in my memories and heart. *)The cassette recording is from one of my concerts in Chile in the 1980s. *)The photos are thanks to our mutual friend, Luisa Caroca Lucero Lucero (Conversando con Luisa), who kindly gave them to me after a recent interview on her radio show on Alive 90.5 FM .
