Ever noticed how the exits of a cinema hall feel completely uninspiring? That’s not a flaw in design—it is the design. Cinema exits are made to push you out quickly, with no distractions, no aesthetics, and definitely no reason to stick around. Once the movie ends, you’re funneled through dim, narrow, often industrial-looking corridors that seem like they weren’t even finished. This is intentional. The goal? Get you out of the cinematic trance as fast as possible. They don’t want you lingering, engaging, or extending your movie experience. You came for the film, and once the credits roll, you're subtly told: “Show’s over. Time to go.” This anti-design philosophy is a psychological tactic. Bright, welcoming exits might keep people hanging around, clogging up space, or re-engaging with the emotional high of the movie. But instead, you’re met with functional monotony that almost forces your brain to “reset” and move on. These spaces kill immersion, shut down emotional carryover, and direct human traffic like a silent instruction manual. The exits are built to end the experience, not extend it. No music, no decor, no vibe. Just you and the hallway. And that's what makes it so genius—you don’t even realize how it manipulates your behavior. #movies #design #psychology
